‘CLUB TOURNAMENT NIGHT 5” : …..over 55 of you enjoyed the last Club Tournament Night of the season. There is another chance though for all the Club senior plyers to get together on the pitch when we hold the Annual Easter Tournament, this time at our Ashburton pitch, on Saturday 2nd April. It will be from 1.30 – 3.30pm – Easter Fancy Dress optional – lots of Chocolate prizes!!
NATIONAL SCHOOLS OUTDOOR FINALS…. AGAIN!?! :
Well done to the 15 Ashmoor players who were members of the South Dartmoor Under 14 squad who have won through to the National U14 Schools Finals by virtue of reaching the West Final at the Regional Championships on Sunday. They managed to top the group that included Millfield (19 times National Finalists!!), and then beat the Avon Champions to book their own place at the Nationals on 22/23 April! It’s a brilliant achievement – top state school in the country!
ENGLAND HOCKEY PREMIER LEAGUE ‘BALL PATROL’:
Ashmoor juniors will be providing the “Ball Patrol” in Exeter University’s EH Premier League match v Brooklands MU on Sunday 28th March! Its meet at 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start. All U14 Junior members keen to have this chance should contact Hayley, Ashmoor’s Junior Coordinator on 07769-272275. We can only have a maximum of 6!
SPORT RELIEF MILE :
The Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile for our local area takes place at Decoy Country Park on Sunday 21st March 2010 from 10.00am. We are working with Teignbridge District Conucil’s Sport and Leisure department to try to encourage as many Ashmoor members as possible to take part in this national fundraising event. Club members of all ages and their families can enter the mile by logging onto the sport relief website, www.sport relief.com/.You can run 1, 3 or 6 miles around the beautiful Decoy Country Park site and fancy dress is optional.
ASHMOOR JUNIOR TRAINING :
This takes place from 6-7pm every Tuesday before the Senior training sessions begin. Any Senior members/parents who are keen to help out in any way please speak to Steve or Hayley. Remember, Junior training carries on after the Easter hols until the end of May!!
Ashmoor Ball Patrol!

On Sunday Ashmoor juniors were lucky enough to be asked to be the “Ball Patrol” for the England Hockey Premier League match between Exeter University and Bowdon. In a thrilling game Exeter drew 2 – 2. The next match when Ashmoor juniors will be providing the “Ball Patrol” in the EH Premier League on Sunday 28th March! Any Junior member keen to have this chance should contact Hayley Naisbett-Jones, Ashmoor’s Junior Coordinator.

With Ashmoor playing into sleeting rain we were 3-0 and then 4-1 at half time. The players rallied at half time and produced a stunning second half performance getting back to 4-3 and then having to clear penalty appeals turned down. Minehead sealed it with a breakway goal on the final whistle as Ashmoor pressed for a well deserved equaliser. Final score Minehead 5, Ashmoor 3.
Seconds won 3 -0 v Dawlish A. Scorers were Jonty Woods, Seth Crosby and Seb Lancaster.
Thirds lost 1 -4 v Yeovil & Sherborne with Alex Parkyn getting the goal.
Many Ashmoor players also represented SDCC in the County and Regional Indoor hockey finals recently, for a match report, see below:

ASHMOOR’s First England International!!

Well done to Jordan Teague, who following his final assessment at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, has been selected for the England U16 Boys squad. A brilliant achievement. Jordan, who attends South Dartmoor Community College, will now train towards the Four Nations Tournament in Germany at Easter, and other International matches during the Summer of 2010. Everyone at Ashmoor congratulates him on this superb accolade!
