The Ethos of the Club :
Ashmoor Hockey Club prides itself on catering for players of all ages, genders and abilities. The Club started with just one team in 2003, and now has 8 senior teams for mens, ladies and mixed hockey, and a remarkable 15 juniors sides, including indoor as well as outdoor teams. We are very much a community club providing quality hockey opportunities and development in what is predominantly a rural Devon locality, covering a large geographical area.
As a Club totally immersed in our community we have a strong emphasis on the development of junior players. The encouragement of junior hockey is a key focus, and there is also a culture of hockey as a fun lifelong sport. Our strong family orientated club has encouraged many more senior ladies and men to 'come back to hockey'.
Our Junior teams take part in County and Regional competitions, and in recent years have qualified for National Finals in Indoor and Outdoor England Hockey competitions. The Club has put in place the right structures to enable talented players to progress through the performance pathways. Many Ashmoor young players have gained representative honours at county and regional level, and in the last three seasons the Club has produced International hockey performers from Under 16 through to Masters age groups!
As the fastest growing club in the country we are always seeking to develop further, and are currently developing strong links with other community organisations and sporting groups.

ASHMOOR TRIP TO THE ENGLAND HOCKEY INDOOR SUPERSIXES at Wembley : THIS Sunday 29th January
This fantastic Indoor Finals event at Wembley Arena, will give you the chance to see the very best Indoor hockey players in the Country, many of whom will be members of the GB teams for the 2012 Olympics…… we will see the Mens semis, and the Finals of the Womens and then the Mens National competitions. The total cost is £15 only!! Collect a letter tonight and return your payment (and Consent Form for U18 ages) to Hayley Naisbett-Jones ASAP to book a seat on the minibuses (Her tel no. is 07769 272275). First come, first served! The trip is open to both Junior and Senior Ashmoor Hockey Club members. DON’T MISS OUT!!
NATIONAL INDOOR CLUBS FINALS – Last Weekend :
It was simply a fantastic “Ashmoor Weekend” with a great Club atmosphere and some superb hockey played against the very best Clubs in the Country. The results are all on this weeks newsheet – See Ashmoor Indoor section!.... a brief summary : The U16 Girls improved with every game, running last year’s winners Wycombe very close, making life hard for Beeston, and then almost beating Doncaster but still getting a morale boosting draw in our final match.
The U16 Boys also got better as the Tournament progressed, knocking out Beeston (again!). Then in a thrilling semi-final against the much fancied Team Bath Buccs, we led 2 – 1, with Bath then equalising with 40 seconds left… But, Jed Dixon then grabbed the winner with just 4 seconds on the clock to the delight of the huge Ashmoor crowd!!! In the Final a strong performance was not quite enough, as Havant pipped us 2 – 1…. So Ashmoor Silver medallists and National Runners-Up.
Finally a MASSIVE thank you for all the Ashmoor team officials – Trudy Channon, Ian Simmons, Lewis Hammett, Jack Dinnie, Hayley Naisbett-Jones, Alf Dinnie and of course Dan Smith – who all helped to make the weekend such a success, ……..and of course to all the parents, families and Club members who were a Big part of our successes with their legendary Ashmoor support!!

ASHMOOR NEWS : Week of 16th January 2011
NEW CLUB KIT :
LOTS OF ORDERS IN ALREADY – Forms have been sent out to all members, and the Kit is available to view and Order Forms are Downloadable from the Ashmoor Hockey website. If you wish to Order kit please sort your order form and return with monies to Simon Tailford, Club Treasurer promptly.
NATIONAL INDOOR SCHOOLS FINALS – Last Weekend :
Some brilliant results for both of our South Dartmoor teams at the National Junior Indoor Hockey SCHOOLS Finals last weekend. The results are all on this weeks newsheet – See Ashmoor Indoor section!.... a brief summary : The U18 Girls just missed out on a semi final place on goal difference winning 2 of their 4 games. The U16 Boys played superbly to qualify for the knock-out stages, then beat Bishops Stortford in a thrilling semi, before beating Trinity School, the South Champions, to take the National Title for the first time ever!!!!

Good luck to Ashmoor’s Under 16 Girls and Boys teams, who play in their respective National Indoor Clubs Finals this weekend against the best teams in whole of England! Also, a BIG “Thank You” to the Club officials who will be transporting them to Wolverhampton, coaching and managing the sides. Thanks as well, in advance, to all those who are going to any of the venues to be part of the ‘legendary’ Ashmoor support! The match schedule is attached to this Newsheet……

INTERNATIONAL SELECTION FOR ASHMOOR PLAYERS :
Well done to Ashmoor’s Dan Johnston and Alf Dinnie who have been selected to train with their respective Wales International squads. Dan was selected as a member of the Under 16 Squad for 2012, and Alf for the U18 Squad. Alf started as a player at our first ever Junior training sessions back in 2003, and Dan has been a member of our successful Junior teams for the past 3 years. We wish them well!

National Indoor Finals – Double Success!! :
Along with Beeston we are officially the ONLY Indoor Hockey Club in the Country to qualify for BOTH the National Under 16 Indoor Hockey competitions for both Boys and Girls in the whole of England!
Firstly, the Ashmoor U16 Girls finished Runner-up in the West, qualifying for the first time ever for the National Under 16 Finals.
Later that day our Under 18 Boys were very unlucky in just missing out on a place at the National Finals, finishing 3rd in the West championship.
Then on Sunday, Ashmoor’s Boys U16 team beat all and sundry to Win the West Clubs title (and retain the Trophy we won last year) and thus make it to their National Finals.
For good measure, both the Boys and Girls Under 16 Finals take place on 21st/22nd January at the same time and venue!! – Well done to all for the hard work we have put in over a long period of time to achieve these outstanding results. Good luck to the Ashmoor teams against the very best sides in England!!!
